How to Source CD, Cassette and Vinyl Storage: Specs, MOQ, Samples and Lead Times
Share
If you are sourcing CD, cassette or vinyl storage for a record shop, a home organization brand or an Amazon store, start from an existing base design, send a target quantity, and approve a sample before bulk production. At Searunwood, most designs start at 100–300 pieces, samples take 3 to 15 days depending on the design, and bulk orders typically ship 25–35 days after the sample is approved.
This guide walks through the four media storage base designs we make today, what can be customized, and what to put in your RFQ so the first quote is accurate.
Four base designs to start from
Each design below is a starting point, not a fixed catalog item. Sizes, wood species and finishes change per order. The figures are copied from each product page.
| Base design | Size | Capacity | Sample time | Bulk lead time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3-tier acrylic and wood rack | 14.5 × 15 × 30.5 cm | About 12 standard CD cases per tier, 24+ per unit | 3–5 business days | 20–30 business days |
| Carbonized wood flip-cover boxes, set of 2 | 43.4 × 17.5 × 14.2 cm | Up to 39 standard CDs per box | 5–7 days | 25–35 days |
| 100-slot desktop tape stand | 5+ layers | 100 cassette tapes | 7–10 days | 25–35 days after sample approval |
| Mid-century record player console | 32.5" W × 16" D × 31" H | LP slots at 13" and 13.75" heights | 15 days | 25–35 days |
Acrylic and wood rack. Clear acrylic panels (3.8 mm) with solid wood shelf boards (12 mm). Units stack, and each tier has a raised front edge so one disc can be lifted out without moving the rest. It ships flat for self-assembly: 3 wood boards, 5 acrylic panels, screws and an assembly tool.
Carbonized flip-cover boxes. Carbonized solid wood with metal hardware, a magnetic flip cover, built-in handles and a stackable shape. Sold as a set of two, which suits bundle listings.
Desktop tape stand. A 100-slot, multi-layer stand for cassette collections, with logo branding and custom packaging available.
Record player console. Solid wood with tapered mid-century legs and open compartments sized for LP records. This is the largest item in the group, so it needs the most attention to packing (see below).
What you can customize
Our 4 engineers develop about 50 new designs a year, so a base design is usually adjusted rather than redrawn. Across all four designs you can change:
- Material: pine, acacia, bamboo, paulownia or rubberwood. Name the species in your RFQ; it affects weight, color and import paperwork.
- Structure and size: tier count, slot spacing, compartment height. Send the case sizes you want to fit (jewel case, slim case, DVD, cassette, 12" LP).
- Color and surface finish: stains and paints are applied in our 2,000 m² dust-free spray room. For the acrylic rack, tinted or frosted panels are also listed options.
- Logo: placed and sized on the sample. Laser engraving is a listed option on the acrylic rack.
- Retail packaging: custom retail boxes in your brand style.
If your market requires a specific coating or material test, write the standard into the RFQ. We check it against the approved sample and accept third-party inspection.
MOQ and pricing
MOQ is set per product. Most of our designs start at 100–300 pieces, and the unit price steps down as volume grows. For this group:
- The 100-slot tape stand lists an MOQ of 300 pieces.
- For the acrylic and wood rack, the MOQ depends on how much you customize. Standard finish units have a lower minimum than custom size, species or acrylic tint.
- For the carbonized boxes and the record console, send your target quantity and we quote against it.
We do not publish blog prices because they move with wood species, finish and packaging. Send the quantity and spec, and the English sales team replies within 4 hours on working days.
Samples and lead times
At company level, samples usually take 7–10 days and bulk production 25–35 days after sample approval. Individual products differ, and the product page timing applies. In this group that ranges from 3–5 business days for the acrylic rack to 15 days for the record console.
Every bulk order is inspected against the approved sample by our 5 full-time QA/QC staff. Our on-time delivery rate is 97.7%.
Packing, Amazon prep and shipping
Media storage carries two transit risks: acrylic panels that scratch or crack, and large solid wood pieces that dent at the corners. Agree the packing spec at the sample stage:
- The acrylic rack ships flat, which keeps the carton small. Tell us if you want extra panel protection.
- The record console page lists reinforced wholesale packaging as a custom option. If you require a drop-test standard, put it in the RFQ so the packing can be confirmed on the sample.
- For Amazon sellers we handle FNSKU and carton labels, FBA-compliant packaging, and DDP delivery to Amazon warehouses.
Trade terms are FOB Qingdao or Shanghai, CIF, or DDP. Payment is by T/T, Alibaba Trade Assurance or L/C.
